An Innovative City Art Trail and AR Experience to Blow Your Mind
Stirling has a rich heritage and we couldn’t wait to delve deeper into those little-known facts and stories through art and augmented reality. Street Stories Stirling is an innovative City Art Trail and Augmented Reality Experience that will blow your mind.
Featuring vibrant works of art across eight vacant shop windows, the ambitious project launched alongside the city’s Business Improvement District. Street Stories features a range of animated videos on each of the eight artworks, in an aim to revitalise the city and how it presents itself as it prepares to welcome shoppers back. Watch our short video below for just a taste of the Stirling installations and animations.
Street Stories ground-breaking Stirling installation showcases the work of a range of Scottish artists with work from Jacqueline Marr, Michael Corr and David Galletly to name a few. Each of their artworks is then brought to life with interactive Augmented Reality (AR) coming together to form a cohesive trail telling the stories of Stirling’s people, heritage and history via different artistic mediums such as mosaic, mural, digital, fluid and dance.
Artists Putting Stirling on the Map
The eight artists were chosen to participate following an open invitation to submit art celebrating Stirling with a focus on the artwork being capable of being brought to life via AR whilst holding its own relevant story.
One of those chosen was mosaic artist Rachel Davies whose work, exploring Scottish slate and stone, is featured on the windows of the former Calvary Fellowship in Stirling Arcade and tells the story of the building of Stirling Castle.
She said: “I’m thrilled to be a part of this project and to see my artwork larger than life on the city streets. I really enjoyed going round the trail and viewing the animations and hope others will find it fun too.”
